Mitch Ross - Musician - Bio
Mitch Ross is a Canadian songwriter, performer and producer who has been writing and recording music for decades.
While he can best be described as an Americana artist, he goes to Blues, R&B and various Rock styles as dictated by his muse.
He began playing guitar at age eight and writing songs by age eleven. At age fourteen, he started recording and bouncing tracks between 2-track reel-to-reel and cassette decks.
Mitch is a multi-instrumentalist and often plays Bass guitar, Piano, Mandolin and Harmonica. He has been singing Lead and Harmony Vocals as long as he’s been playing songs by The Beatles, around 1979.
He majored in Classical Guitar, minored in Piano and formally and informally studied composition for seven years at Cambrian College and Huntington University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
Mitch continued writing Classical-styled music for several years after graduating.
After an extended break from performing, Mitch slowly began to return to the stage in the late 2010s and 2020s, performing originals and cover songs as a solo artist, leading bands and as a supporting player.
Mitch is currently working on recording a vast backlog of material ranging in styles from Americana, Blues, R&B, Rock and even Surf Rock and providing music lessons in various formats.
He is working to return to performing regularly as a solo artist, in collaboration with other artists, and once again fronting a band.
Mitch’s passion for music is only outweighed by his love of his family, especially his wife and best friend Tracey, who has known him, supported his goals and influenced him since they met in 1983; his son Connor, who has motivated him as much as he has hopefully inspired him and his three step-children, Corey, Trista and Jessie whom Mitch wishes nothing but good things in life.
